In addition to all that, there were a number of significant quality of life improvements to Warcraft's systems, which went live as part of the prepatch as well. The prepatch for Legion, for example, offered players in-game demon invasions throughout the world of Azeroth, presenting opportunities for new appearances, feats of strength, a pet, a toy, gear that provided a catch up in power for those with alternate characters or who hadn't played in a while and the opportunity to infect other players via an in-game mechanic. The past few expansions saw significant content released during the prepatch, including pets, achievements, item appearances and other goodies only available during the event. They can play with all the game's new toys, even if they can't yet level or travel to new zones. Typically prepatch times are a hoot for players, if a bit buggy. (Blizzard declined to officially comment for this story.) It just disappoints me, and a good chunk of the game's longtime player base, if online comments in a wide variety of forums are any indication. So the rocky, unrewarding BfA prepatch doesn't make me angry, or delighted.
